SPIDERS  ( No pictures)

I know what you are thinking. It is camping and of course there are spiders and bugs galore.  As much as I agree, there are there are normal bugs and then there are these.   When picking this one quaint, remote yet convenient Sandusky OH campground, we thought a woodsy, treelined site would be lovely. Having been in so many sites over the past months that lacked any kind of tree coverage we were excited to have the added shade. When we arrived, it appeared to be the very best site. Lots of mature trees and a wooded landscape behind us. We settled in and enjoyed our outdoors in the evening.  The next day as I went out for my morning run, I was greeted with lots of “webs” everywhere.  Strung between the camper and the jeep.  The bikes and the camper. The trees to the trees.  Glistening strands that seemed to just fly.  At further investigation, there were more webs all over so many things. Yuck.  And of course, as you walk around, they lie to hit you right at face level.  I thought, “wow these guys had a wild night doing all this.”  Once back from my run, I proceeded to get the broom and clear all the webs needing to be dismantled, only for them to return hours later. Most of the spiders were long legged with a small body and apparently harmless, except for the aggravation and yuck factors. Kev hates when I kill spiders, but after all, they are creepy. And when I began to see more and more of them moving to inside the camper, that’s when I draw the line.  The numbers that were getting in were growing and I began to start keeping score. Of course I was winning. I became the official “exterminator.”  One would slither down a web here……make a web in a corner there…it was exhausting.  One morning as I was putting on my cap to go for a run, I caught a glimpse of something black as I was swinging it toward the mount on my head….and there was a black spider in my hat.  Luckily, I saw it before it was trapped on my head.  Uggghh.  The thought gave me the creeps for several hours.  I continued to count the days till we were out of there and still counting the spiders. When we did get to our next destination, it still took me several days to completely rid us of these creatures.  I vacuumed every cabinet, nook, and cranny.  Eventually, we were safe again with only the minor one you will encounter along the way.  Thank goodness.  Spiderwoman can put her uniform away finally.
