Just a short ride south from Hilton Head, SC is our next stop, Savannah, GA. Yes, yet another eastern coastline location to enjoy. We chose Skidaway Island State Park since we have camped here in the past and enjoyed it. It’s a beautiful park a short drive to downtown attractions and shopping. Here is the great thing about Georgia State Parks, they have a senior annual pass you can purchase which discounts your rates and offers a two-night free stay! Sometimes it pays to be old people. The pass allows us to visit all Georgia State Parks free and we plan to take advantage of that this visit and throughout the year.
Savannah is a wonderful port town to visit rich in history and beauty. It is also a haunted town with activities known to the locals if you are interested in that. We have visited here in the past and enjoy walking this city, taking in the sights and popping in & out the shops along the waterfront. While we were in town, the exhibition center in town hosted a Christmas Market. It is setup with rows of booths occupied by area artisans and crafters displaying their wares. We did not realize how big a deal it was for this area as we arrived late morning and had to park almost a mile away from the entrance. Once inside, it was wall to wall shoppers. Unfortunately, living in a motorhome doesn’t allow you to collect things, so we couldn’t partake in buying much. We did come away with some local honey and met our exercise quota for the day!
