To round off our three month stay in Florida, the next stop was Madison RV & Golf Resort just off Interstate 10 in Madison. We really weren’t sure what to expect and upon arriving we were surprised at how full the camp was. It seems that this was a mecca for
campers from up north to meet annually here to hang and play golf or pickleball or just hang out at the tiki bar. We had a great site near the largest dog park (2 acres) that Calli enjoyed several times daily. The golf course was a nine hole which was mostly wet and
in average condition with weed outcroppings on the greens which altered our putts on almost every hole. But, it was golf and the folks camped here thoroughly enjoyed the additional challenge. The best hole was the ninth, a par three leading uphill to the
clubhouse which we never hit the green and quite frankly never pared it either. Didn’t care, there was a cold beer and drink waiting on us after losing our mind with the last hole. We met a great couple camped a few sites away from us from CT, Kim and Bill
with a dog named Kiera, a black lab. We played a few 9 hole rounds while enjoying their company and frustration with the course conditions which we had to laugh at and realize it was all for fun! Mother, Nature also played a role during this stay. First, it was noticeable that they had experienced a horrific wind storm or micro cell disturbance that destroyed several trees on the course. Most were tipped onto the side or snapped off above the ground and lying along the out of bounds area. Secondly, when it rains, several of the holes became flooded adding to proper ball strikes to avoid possible snake infested ball retrieving. We did enjoy our stay here and would consider trying it again in the future.
