Days 10/12 –

“Hey Mr. Martini..how about some wine!”

Believe it or not North Carolina has some beautiful wineries and they are dog friendly.  We had a great ride to Chateau Morrisette, Floyd VA. A magnificent scenic mountain venue.  The buildings on site are just amazing with grandeur. Our host was Mr. Ray, a US Veteran that is spending his days now helping people like us learn about their wines.  Just another one if the great things about travel, meeting fun and interesting people.  Learning their stories and sharing a bit of ours.

Our next tasting day brought us to two more stately wineries in Mt. Airey, NC. Right over the border from Fancy Gap, VA where we were staying made for another scenic ride.  Round Peak Winery was our first stop. Located in the wooded hills overlooking some of their vines, we sat outside in a grove of trees, fenced in so Calli could roam and adventure on her own. Their French and Italian style wines, surprisingly, were truly quite lovely. And of course, we took a few bottles home to savor again later.

Off then to Serre Vineyards.  Now this view was amazing. We sat overlooking the mountains and vines. The Day was sunny and cool, just perfect.  As we sipped our wine tastings among nature and snacked on a lovely charcuterie box we could just relaxed for a while.  Taking that time together to chat, reminisce and anticipate the times ahead.
