Finding our way to Oregon

Our farthest point west and we made it. What a beautiful ride as the road takes you paralleling the huge river.  Going from desolate flat sandy vistas into endless evergreens it was such an amazing site to see.

Our main point in going out to Oregon was to visit with son Ryan and girlfriend Mallory.   He has lived out there now about 7 years and loves his new role as a brew-master for Breakside Brewery.   Due to the distance between Oregon and South Carolina we certainly didn’t see him as much as we wished.  We had a lot to make up for while there.  And we did.   We stayed in Cascade Locks just about 45 minutes outside of Portland.  Visiting all kinds of breweries and wineries.  Having a lovely picnic in a private cove near the river.   Seeing all the para-surfing enthusiasts down in Hood River while walking the pathway was amazing.   Then, there was the rail biking day.  Luckily, they do have an assist throttle to help on the many hills.  It initially looked a lot easier than it actually was. Plus being on one of the hottest days there in the high 90’s just added to the experience. A sweaty one. LOL.

As the nights cooled off, we would hang out by the camper and continue to enjoy all the catching up.  Sharing our adventures and hearing all about their day to day.  Time flew by though and before we knew it, we were ready to move onward.

Making great memories like these are all about why we embarked on this journey to begin with.  We will cherish them!
