The day has finally come when the realization of the journey we have been planning for many years is now upon us. As we prepare to embark on this journey, we want to first thank God for the many blessings that have brought us to where we are today. There’s a tremendous amount of time and energy exerted in the downsizing process, but also many rewards. Being able to live simply and comfortably in a 39ft Motorhome takes organization, planning, love and lots of patience. What to leave in, what to leave out. What to keep (in storage) and what to let go of. Sometimes, the things we possess that we feel we have to have, we realize aren’t really what makes us happy at all. Letting them go is very freeing. Reminding ourselves that they are just things. Things don’t define us. WE define us.

So, with the first half of our adventure planned and the many critical routes laid out, reservations made, we are ready to set out on the great adventure. Maneuvering winding roads, refueling stations, detours and tight campsites are just a small part of the day to day of RVing. What we will see and experience along the way will be part of the excitement. We are certainly not professionals at this by any means and everyday we continue to learn. After all, we started camping in a tent, some sleeping bags and a Coleman stove. Seeing what this beautiful country has to offer us, points of interest, and natures majesty… will make every moment a gift.

So check in with us often for updates along this fantastic adventure.

FIRST SOME BACKGROUND ON OUR CAMPING HISTORY

Our first Camper, a Grand Design Imagine

                                  Meet RUBYSUE.

After surviving a Nor’easter on Cape Cod MA, we knew then that continuing to camp in a tent wasn’t for us. We searched  and looked at many campers and decided to chose this travel trailer.  We liked the set up and it met our immediate needs and budget.   After a few trips, we realized that our truck was not hefty enough to handle the major mountains so we upgraded to a Ram 2500 Diesel . What a big towing difference this made to deliver the power required to tow the camper safely. It proved to be a wise choice and we completed several trips comfortably.

Looking forward, we decided that more space and amenities would be nice to extend our trips. The Imagine served us well but it was time to look at things differently.

Our next Camper was an Entegra Odyssey C Class

                        Meet KYRA KAMPER

As you can see, this is a C Class drivable motorhome. We chose this camper due to its design and interior space. It had a murphy bed which gave us more room to move about when the bed wasn’t needed and it had exterior storage which was nice. We did have to invest in upgrading the suspension due to “wandering” but it towed our Jeep fairly well. The 7.3L V8 was plenty powerful and the rig was comfortable to drive.

After much thought and looking forward to extensive travel plans, we decided to look into Class A motorhomes. The Entegra was nice but long term driving across the country, it was time to move up.

The Lastest…2020 Newmar Canyon Star 3710

                     Say hello to VAMOOSE!

We took our time and thoroughly researched options, manufacturers, reviews and YouTube. This was our choice to travel comfortably and safe in. It’s a little over 38ft. long with two slides, heat pumps to keep us heated and cooled, captain’s chairs and set up for wifi. Linda loves the bath and a half, washer/dryer and king size bed. Kevin enjoys ample storage, a big shower and plenty of driving vision. There’s a residential fridge, electric fireplace and queen size pull out sofa as well as a dining space and work station. ( Did somebody say WORK?)

We’ll be pulling a two door Jeep Wrangler that been modified for safe towing. All in all, we’re satisfied with this choice to take us where we want to go and do it safely and comfortably.

Our travel companions

On the left is Kyra, our first  rescue. She was the best camping companion and a seasoned traveler. The beach was her favorite place to visit. Kyra passed away from a neurological disorder but is forever in our hearts. We named our second motorhome after her because she passed right during the buying process.

Calli, on the right is the newest addition to our family. We rescued her at 2 months old and she will soon be almost a year. She has taken to travelling in the motorhome very well. We’re happy to have her along!

Traveling with a pet is sometimes challenging, but so very rewarding.
