Turning Stone- Verona NY

An extended stay at Turning Stone Casino RV Park gave us time to do some exploring.  The summer was just beginning to bloom in this area, so some soaking rains accompanied us.  With those rains came some very needed cooling winds that made the warm days very pleasant. Let me not get ahead of myself though. When we arrived, it was only I n the high 50’s to low 60’s which was not expected at all.  Those temperatures stayed with us for about a week and then the heat began to rise.  Which was not terrible because it made for a few nice days at their pool.  Despite the temps the great breezes took very good care of us. We explored one of the regions most beautiful lakes.  GREEN LAKE STATE PARK. This must be one of the most amazing and unusual lakes.  Its name cannot even begin to describe its Caribbean blue green colors that shimmer like effervescent.  And its literally crystal clear. I have included a picture of the sign explaining how these colors are possible.  Its very interesting but too long to post.  We took a 3-mile hike around the lake with Calli which was nicely shaded by the tree line. Every turn seeing just more beauty.  When we returned home the evening presented itself with the most magnificent blanket of stars that when photographed brought about some very unusual results. These are totally untouched pictures.  WOW.   In the many days to come, we enjoyed some of the best ice cream around. Took in some harness racing not too far away at Vernon Downs. And an evening of comedy with Gabriel Iglesias, aka “Fluffy.”  And I must mention the amazing, friendly staff at the campground. They were so very kind and accommodating to us especially with us sending ourselves shipments.  Michele, Loraine and all the staff, were so great. To show our appreciation we got them all gift cards to the great ice cream shop down the street.  Apparently, no one has ever done anything like this for them and they were elated.   Kev and I have always learned that giving back and paying forward is what life is all about. So glad for our great time there and we look forward to a return trip.
